Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement after votes in the House of Representatives Thursday evening:

From this day forward -- or at least until the Congress of the United States actually secures our borders, balances our budget, and otherwise stops harming this great country -- I will vote present on all bills involving the naming of federal buildings and installations.

Over 11,000 pounds of deadly fentanyl has poured across our wide-open border this year, our national debt is barreling toward $30 trillion with no end in sight, and our military is more focused pushing woke ideology than destroying our enemies, yet Congress is using the People's time passing bills to name federal buildings.

There were three such bills presented today with a mix of Democrat and Republican politicians and judges, including the re-naming of a building of apparently a former Democrat KKK member.

So now is as good a time as any to establish that my staff's better time is spent dealing with the multiple crises we are facing than doing deep-dives into the lives of the individuals for whom government buildings have been named or to glorify politicians going forward, at least while we have so many more important things to do. Thanks.
